Butterick B5330 Skirt C

My mother found this fabric at a yard sale, and gave it to me.
This is what I made out of it.
The size is a bit bigger than the pattern says. I should have used a stronger elastic, there is a lot of fabric here. Or maybe that is why there is a belt in the pattern picture. LOL.
All in all I would definitely use this pattern again.

College T-Shirt Quilt

I had a cousin ask me to make her a quilt for a friend out of some T-Shirts. Here is the result, it was tough to buy fabric because choosing fabric for someone else is hard, and even harder when you've never met him. I liked how it turned out. I was going to do stippling for the quilting but I decided against it. I think the squares look better plain, instead of having swirlys all over them.

Butterick Fast & Easy B5219 Review

This is defiantly not a fast and easy project. More like a pain in the butt and it still doesn't wear right. This blouse when completed doesn't sit on the shoulders well, it shows bra straps easily. Also super short. I'm rather short waist-ed and it's still short. No good.

Shirt below is option B

In the end I believe I chose too heavy of a fabric, but really the directions were terrible. Now mind you I know the sewing is not perfect but this was a long process project.

little boy pj pants

I made these pajama bottoms from McCall's Pattern M6224 (size 2) I bought a men's XL button up top and used that for the fabric. I think it was 3 dollars, husband didn't have one he would let go of. I love how they turned out!

(don't mind my nasty rental floor)

Cloth Diapers

No I didn't make these but I made the newborn ones below.

I just wanted to share this picture, for some weird reason it makes me smile, probably because they are clean.

Aren't they cute?

Kid's Hooded Bath robe

This is my darling little boy modeling his new bathrobe that his mommy (me) made. He loves it. I got the idea for this from here http://www.dana-made-it.com/2011/06/beach-robe-pattern-is-here.html . Her's are super super cute. She has the pattern for sale for $8.

I'm too cheap for that.

I made my own pattern. Maybe I'll post how did that later on if anyone is interested. I won't make a pattern to download though, you can spend the $money$ over at MADE if you would like a pattern.

This bathrobe that I made is out of two towels. I couldn't get one to go far enough so luckily I had another one the same color. They were towels I didn't like anymore. I was just testing to see how it turned out. I love it, they are super easy to make, the binding on the edges is what takes the longest. I used my serger for everything else. I LOVE my serger! I ran out of the yellow binding so I had to use black for the tie. Bummer.

I plan to make a couple more, but out of nicer towels next time :)

Cost to make = "0" dollars

Old towels, binding left over from other projects. Doesn't get any better than that.
Dana over at Made suggest it be a robe for the beach, but we don't live anywhere near the beach, so swimming could work, but we use his for bath time.

Pattern Finds

I was in our little town thrift store the other day and these were a few of the patterns they had there. I chose what I thought were the best ones they had. 4 out of the 5 had never been cut into. Lucky me. The total cost $$$$ .5o cents. If I never use any of them, no big deal.

I don't usually see patterns, I've seen a couple at a garage sale once, but that was it. I'll have too keep a better eye out now.

Do they date patterns? Anyone know. If so please tell me where.

Receiving Blanket

This was a gift, it's a called a bind-less receiving blanke.t I embroidered her name on it, just a little extra something, it's also made out of cotton fabric instead of the usual flannel, and that is because she had a summer baby and she lives in Las Vegas. It's Super HOT there.
If you would like a tutorial on how to make this cute blanket check out my sisters blog http://shaunettesrants.blogspot.com/2011/03/okay-ladies-i-think-this-might-help.html . or check out this one. http://thecraftpatch.blogspot.com/2011/03/self-bound-flannel-baby-blanket.html

Homemade Booster Seat

I made this booster seat for my little boy, it's got three phone books wrapped in duct tape, then I sewed a cover out of PUL (the stuff they make all in one cloth diapers out of),that way it would be water proof and wipe up easily. Works pretty good, and didn't cost a dime to make. I had everything on hand. Wahoo!

Butterick 3385 style B

I've had this shirt pattern for forever...well I finally made a practice one. This is a sheet. I like the pattern besides the fact that it needs to be a little longer. That's an easy enough fix. I like that it's not too revealing in the bust area (bonus). Now all I've gotta do is find some fabric that I like.

Welcome to my blog

This blog exist because I was posting too many crafts on my "family blog". I love to sew, sometimes scrapbook, paint, refurbish, and the occasional wood projects. This blog will have many items I make, tips, maybe some tutorials, and hopefully it will inspire you to get out there and make your own stuff. Happy sewing.
